Fiercely independent Helen Winters was born completely blind, but she vowed never to let her disability keep her down. She did not expect a traumatic event to devastate her life and force her to drop out of college. Disillusioned by the cruelty of people, Helen retreated from society to live by herself as a reclusive writer in the woods—where no one could ever hurt her again.
When a brilliant young doctor shows up on her doorstep, promising her that his new research can give her the ability to see for the first time, Helen stubbornly refuses. She has learned not to trust anyone, and to rely only on herself. But Dr. Liam Larson will not take no for an answer. He makes it his personal mission to rescue Helen from her loneliness, and bring joy into her world once more—the joy she has denied herself for so long.
When Helen’s demons come racing back into her life, threatening to rip her apart and destroy the strength she has carefully rebuilt, Liam is the only one who might be able to save her.
Can he reach the broken girl in time, helping her to heal and see the world in a different light? Or will Helen’s grief send her spiraling out of control, lost to him forever?

REVIEW

The start of this book tore at my heart. The introduction to Helen and her disability was hard hitting and extremely emotional, and to see how it turned her life upside down was tragic. No matter how much she protested that living alone in the middle of nowhere was what she wanted, once she arrived home it was clear where she should be.

I was really eager to go on this journey with Helen. The promise of gaining her sight intrigued me, but I was more excited to see how it would change her. The road trip with her new doctors was quite hilarious and lifted the darkness that lurked within this story, but as Helen soon found out, no matter how hard or far you run and hide form your past, the nightmares will always be waiting to step right back into your life.
Lost drew me in to this story and into Helen's life. I felt every one of her emotions as if they were my own, but I can only imagine what it must be like never knowing what anything looks like. Relying on other's to describe things, but never really knowing if the image in your head is accurate or not. It reminded me of how we so often take small things for granted and how grateful we should be.

The ending to this story was a major cliffhanger and I wanted to scream because I was just getting into the story. It was a great set up for the next book. I cannot wait to continue with this series. There's so much I need to know and see. Where will things lead with Helen and Liam? Will the procedure he had planned for her would be a success? And most importantly, what will happen to Helen after the events that took place at the end of this book?
